Major Impact Grant – A paradigm shift in the management of cardiovascular risk following hypertensive disorders in pregnancy using mini-hearts and patient-derived stem cells
In a collaborative project led by Dr Lana McClements (University of Technology Sydney), across Cardiac and Vascular Health, Maternal Newborn and Women’s, Diabetes Obesity and Metabolic Disease and Frontiers Technology Clinical Themes, with South Eastern Sydney LHD, this project explored causes of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy through generating in-vitro bioengineered models of the human heart, working towards identifying therapeutic targets, personalised treatments and improve patient management. The project has been presented at conferences and in publications, and led to further avenues of research and acquired further Heart Foundation and MRFF funding towards this.
