SPHERE re-accredited by NHMRC

The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) has re-accredited Maridulu Budyari Gumal, Sydney Partnership for Health, Education, Research and Enterprise (SPHERE) as a Research Translation Centre.

With this accreditation NHMRC recognises that Research Translation Centres such as SPHERE provide collaborations between health care organisations, research and education/training organisations and are a key mechanism driving the translation of health and medical research into clinical practice, policy and health systems.

SPHERE’s Acting Executive Director, Professor Chris White, emphasises the importance of re-accreditation for the organisation and its partners.

“Our successful re-accreditation confirms our commitment to work together for health and wellbeing. Collaboration between our partners, clinical academic groups and strategic platforms  amplify outputs greater than any individual or team could do in isolation," said Prof White.

NHMRC CEO, Professor Anne Kelso, said collaboration was at the centre of research translation.

“Translating research outcomes into patient care is critical to improving the health of Australians,” Professor Kelso said.

“These Research Translation Centres bring together the partnerships that make that possible. NHMRC accreditation recognises the strength of these collaborations.”

SPHERE is one of nine Research Translation Centres that have been re-accredited.  Top End Academic Health Partners (Top End Partners) has been accredited for the first time.
