SPHERE farewells Council Chair

Professor Rod McClure has advised he will step down from SPHERE Council and his role as Chair at the end of August.  Professor Cheryl Jones, Dean UNSW Medicine Health, as Deputy Council Chair and Chair-Elect, has been ratified as the new Chair at the August Council meeting.

Prof McClure is a practising Public Health Physician with a distinguished track record of achievement in the higher education, government, and industry sectors. He joined the SPHERE Council in November 2023 and became Chair in May 2024.  In the period he served on SPHERE Council, Prof McClure made an important contribution. His leadership has been marked by a commitment to excellence, collaborative effort and community-relevant outcomes. 

“SPHERE is a great community and I see great promise for its future,” said Prof McClure.

Prof Jones thanked Rod for his steady leadership in times of change.
