hero news image

After six years of dedicated leadership, Professor Sandy Middleton has stepped down from her role as Director of the Implementation Science Platform. We extend our deepest gratitude to Prof Middleton for her invaluable contributions to the Platform, shaping it into a pillar of excellence within SPHERE.

Under Prof Middleton's guidance, the Platform has flourished, becoming a hub of innovation and collaboration. Her vision and dedication have been instrumental in establishing the Platform as a vital force in advancing implementation research and practice.

Prof Middleton will continue to serve as the Director of the SPHERE Nursing and Midwifery Implementation Science Academy, alongside Deputy Director, Professor Caleb Ferguson, ensuring continuity in leadership within SPHERE. She will also provide valuable guidance and insight as a member of the Implementation Science Platform Executive.

Taking the place of Prof Middleton is Associate Professor Natalie Taylor who has moved from her position as Deputy Director into the Director role. A/Prof Taylor brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to her new role, having played a key role in setting up the Implementation Science Collaborative where she continues to hold the Director position. Her passion for driving evidence translation and her collaborative spirit make her the ideal candidate to lead the platform into its next chapter.

"I'm excited to take on the role of Director of the Implementation Science Platform," said A/Prof Taylor.

"I am committed to building upon the strong foundation laid by Prof Middleton and driving forward new initiatives to optimise implementation research and practice."

We would also like to acknowledge the invaluable support of Professor Caleb Ferguson, who will continue to serve as the Deputy Director of the Implementation Science Nursing and Midwifery Implementation Science Academy. His expertise will be instrumental in supporting A/Prof Taylor and ensuring the continued success of the Platform.

We would also like to acknowledge the contribution of Dr Nicola Straiton, as the outgoing research support officer of the Platform and welcome her replacement, Natalie Walsh.
