Cancer Institute NSW 2024 Research Equipment Grant: Expressions of Interest Now Open

Cancer Institute NSW announced the 2024 Research Equipment Grant round specifically for members of Maridulu Budyari Gumal (SPHERE), Sydney Cancer Partners and NSW Regional Health Partners.

Research Equipment Grants ensure that the state has access to world-class infrastructure to accelerate cancer research and realise clinical benefits.

This scheme will support research infrastructure where there is a clearly demonstrated need and where the equipment will substantially improve research productivity.

In 2024, the Cancer Institute NSW will accept one (1) application per centre to be considered for funding which must be endorsed by a Chief Investigator who currently holds a Cancer Institute NSW Translational Cancer Research Capacity Building Grant (Professor Geoff Delaney).

To facilitate selection of these applications, we are seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI). From the EOI, one application will be selected to proceed to full application with endorsement of SPHERE Cancer CAG Lead, Professor Geoff Delaney. The EOI's will be reviewed by an internal committee from within SPHERE.

Funding Available: Up to $700,000 (ex GST) per application. Equipment must be purchased within 12 months of the commencement of the grant. Co-contributions may be provided by the Administering Institution and/or other funders where the proposed equipment exceeds $700,000.

Chief Investigator: Must be employed at one of SPHERE’s affiliated organisations for the duration of the grant. An applicant can only be named as a Chief Investigator on one REG application.

Use of Funds: Acceptable types of physical infrastructure to be funded includes equipment and machinery (for example, computer-based equipment and databases, imaging, and other analytical laboratory equipment). Funding will not support recurring staffing costs to manage the equipment.

Endorsement: The selected full application must be endorsed by Professor Geoff Delaney who currently holds a Cancer Institute NSW Translational Cancer Research Capacity Building Grant. The Administering Institution of the Chief Investigator must also endorse the application.
