Seed Grant – A predictive model for non-adherence to guideline-recommended secondary prevention medications following an acute myocardial infarction (AMI)
Blood pressure and cholesterol lowering medication is often prescribed after a heart attack to prevent subsequent events, but adherence can be low. A mixed methods study has been undertaken including data linkage with the Sax Institute 45 and Up Study and interviewing AMI survivors sourced from GP practices to develop a predictive model and clinical support tool for GPs to improve medication taking behaviour after AMI. Ongoing work if being undertaken to develop, test and refine the support tool.
