This project involves appraising four built environment assessment tools in a rapid systematic review exercise on their suitability for application at health precincts. The tools analysed include internationally well-known tools such as health impact assessment, the WELL Building Standard checklist, and the Built Environment Assessment Tool, along with the Health Facility Audit Tool that was designed by NSW Health’s Mid North Coast Local Health District. Our report highlights the benefits and drawbacks of these tools and provides suggestions on the potential for developing a composite tool specifically for assessing the health promotion objectives of health precincts.
