PhD Cancer Workshop: Communication in Science
Following the success of the previous workshop earlier in the year, SPHERE Cancer Clinical Theme will be hosting a final half-day 'Pitch your Science' workshop.
It is essential that researchers communicate their research to non-specialists (such as researchers in other disciplines, policymakers, industry, the press, or the public) to increase the impact and influence of their ideas more broadly in society.
The workshop will provide PhD students (of any stage working in oncology or cancer research) with the opportunity to further develop skills in communicating complex science to a broad and diverse stakeholder group as well as impactful pitching. An external expert will be facilitating this session, and the workshop will be followed by a networking lunch.
We would like to extend this invitation to PhD students across the SPHERE network of partners; however, limited spots are available to cater to a more personalised experience. We encourage you to register your interest as early as possible.
‘Pitch your science’
This session will cover what makes an effective pitch and provide useful strategies to really work out how to introduce research for impact. You will hone the skill of distilling your research into a few bullet points for maximum impact.
Participants will have the opportunity to put theory into practice with LIVE feedback from their peer group and experts alike.
When: Tuesday, 15th October 2024 from 10am – 1pm
Where: UNSW Sydney
Click here to register your interest by the 30th of September to avoid missing out!
**Please note this does not automatically guarantee a spot. We will be in touch with attendees individually to confirm details.**
