Personalising hope for suicide prevention: What machine learning and AI can do for us
About this webinar: Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are transforming mental health research by improving suicide and self-harm risk prediction and optimising intervention strategies. This talk will explore how AI-driven models enhance risk stratification, detect high-risk individuals earlier, and personalise interventions for better outcomes. By integrating computational techniques with clinical insights, AI and ML offer scalable, data-driven solutions that can revolutionise suicide prevention efforts, ultimately improving mental health care accessibility, precision, and effectiveness.
About the Speaker: Dr Dan Lin currently serves as an Associate Professor at Saint Louis University in the USA and an Adjunct Associate Professor at University of New South Wales in Australia. Trained as a psychiatrist and genetic epidemiologist, Dr Lin has led research exploring the intersection of biological, environmental, and socioeconomic factors in psychiatric conditions including autism, ADHD, and suicide. His research portfolio encompasses a diverse array of methodologies, including genetic studies, clinical trials, cohort studies, and population surveys, using machine learning techniques and other state-of-the-art statistical methods. He has thus far published more than 90 peer-reviewed research articles in journals such as JAMA Pediatrics and Molecular Psychiatry, etc.
